TORONTO, CANADA — Global employment solutions provider Employment Hero has announced its acquisition of Humi, an employment platform in Canada.

The deal, valued at over CA$100 million (US$69.5 million), blends global innovations with a deep understanding of local needs to deliver tailored employment solutions across Canada.

This merger is expected to be finalized by January 2025, pending customary closing conditions.

Enhanced services for Canadian SMEs

The merger aims to address the needs of over one million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Canada by providing an integrated platform for payroll, HR, and benefits. The all-in-one platform leverages Employment Hero’s Employment Operating System (eOS) to ensure it fits the unique Canadian business environment, promising improvements in productivity for both employees and employers.

“United in our mission to make employment easier and more valuable for everyone, Employment Hero is the perfect partner to support Humi’s growth in Canada. Their investment in Humi is a commitment to our customers,” said Kevin Kliman, CEO and co-founder of Humi.

Global reach with local focus on employment

Employment Hero’s platform has demonstrated efficiency improvements, reducing administrative burdens by up to 80% for its 300,000 business clients globally and more than 2 million employees worldwide. The acquisition of Humi not only extends its footprint but also strengthens its ability to offer localized solutions.

Ben Thompson, CEO and co-founder of Employment Hero, commented on the acquisition: “The Humi team has a deep knowledge of Canadian employment and an impressive track record of supporting businesses in Canada. Humi will remain Canadian-operated, and their team will continue to serve the unique needs of local businesses.”
